Things which make a Pakistani Proud

Although the world wide image of Pakistan is that of a failed state and most of the world see it only as a place where terrorists hide themselves and conduct their activities around the world.But the reality is far from the picture which is painted by the world wide media.Truth be told Pakistan has accomplished pretty impressive things over its short history of 67 years. Following are some of the things which should make a Pakistani proud no matter in which part of the world he is living





  • The Karakoram Highway is the highest paved international road in the world which connects China and Pakistan across the Karokoram mountain range.The road is a popular tourist attraction and is often refereed to as the "Eighth wonder of the world" due to the extreme conditions in which it was built.The highway is  best traveled in spring or early autumn.

  • Tarbela located on the Indus River is the worlds largest Earth Dam and the second largest by structural volume.It is located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa  about 50 km northwest of Islamabad.The useful life of the Dam will be about 85 years and it will serve the nation into the 2060s.

  • The literacy rate of Pakistan is well behind the developed countries but Pakistan has the 7th largest pool of Engineers in the world.In the last 20 years illiteracy in Pakistan has been reduced significantly by over 250%. the largest reduction till date.


  • Worlds largest deep sea port is being constructed at Gwadar Pakistan.The port of Gwadar carries a lot of strategic importance and will bring in billions of dollars of revenue and will generate about two million jobs. Gwadar is located at a distance of about 700 km from Karachi and 120 km from Iranian border.

  • Khewra salt mines are the Pakistan's largest and and the world's second largest salt mines and are located north of historical town of Pind Dadan Khan.These mines are a major tourist attraction and draw up to 250,000 visitors per year.Rough estimates put the salt deposits in this mine up to 600 million tons.

  • Arfa Karim was a Pakistani prodigy who at the age of nine became the youngest Microsoft professional a title she kept till 2008.The present youngest Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) is also from Pakistan. Ayan Qureshi a boy from Lahore who became a certified Professional only at an age of 5 years and 11 months.

  • Nestle's Largest milk reception facility is located in Kabirwala Punjab Pakistan.It was inaugurated in 2007 and has a capacity of processing close to 3 million liters of milk per day.Pakistan is also one of the biggest consumer of Unilever products.

  • Thar coalfield located in the province of Sindh in Pakistan has the 6th largest coal reserves in the world.It is one of the worlds largest lignite coal deposits spread over an area of 9000 square kilometers and comprise about 175 billions tonnes of coal sufficient to meet the countries fuel requirements for centuries to come.



  • According to estimates carried out by the geology department the world's fifth largest reserves of gold and copper are located at Reko Diq Baluchistan.The mineral resource here is estimated to be 5.9 billion tonnes.
