Many Major Motor Companies including General motors,Mercedes Benz,Volvo,Audi are testing drive less cars as of 2014.Google began developing a driver less car in private back in 2009 but did not announce its project up till now.On May 1 2012 Google's Car was subjected to a test drive for 22 km on a test route in Vegas Nevada.The car passed the test but was not tested at roundabouts,Signal crossings and school zones.On May 27 2014 Google announced plans to unveil 100 prototypes of Autonomous car in a couple of years.All of these prototypes will be built inside Google's Secret lab in California.The Mercedes Benz S class Vehicles introduced in 2013 has options for autonomous steering,lane keeping,parking,Accident avoidance and Driver's Fatigue Detection.

According to an Engineering Professor in Michigan State University A Self Driving Car can considerably reduce the traffic accidents and save a number of precious lives.This type of car is set for introduction in 2017 and will be known as "Self Driving Autonomous Cars"and will be 5 times more safer than the cars we are currently driving.Although it is important to mention that customers right now are not willing to accept a car that drives itself.Although a Self Driving Car has the potential to reduce traffic collisions but it also carries significant disadvantages which include liability for damages,Resistance of people to give up the control of their vehicles,Loss f driving related Jobs and the two most important and potentially the most dangerous is the reliability of the soft ware which controls the cars and performs all the critical functions,nevertheless, a self driving car might only be 3-4 yeas away from becoming an essential part of our every day lives.
