Independence Referendum.
Following an agreement between the British and Scotland administration a bill for the referendum was passed by the Scottish parliament in November 2013.All resident of Scotland aged 16 and above were given the right to vote amounting to about 4.3 million people.The referendum took place on 18th September 2014 and Scots ultimately decided to stay with Britain.A huge relief for the British government which was trying desperately to keep Scotland within its domain.55.30% of the Scots chose to stay with Britain and 46 % voted in favor of an independent Scotland.0.09% of the votes were invalid. |
