Cricket is one of the most interesting sports in the world.It is even watched in countries which do not have their own national cricket team.In subcontinent Cricket is the most popular sport.Players are rated very highly and enjoy the status of a super star.Many interesting incidents take place on a cricket field.Following are some of these incidents.

Interesting Lofted Shot

In the early days of cricket Australia had a hard hitter player named George John.He was well over six feet tall and weighed more than a 100 kilos.He was commonly known as "The Hercules" in the circle of cricket.He toured England 5 times and played 17 test matches.In 1880 when the first test was being played between Australia and England at the Oval George played a lofted shot and and ran two runs before finally being caught.This is the only instance in cricket when a batsmen was able to run two before being caught after hitting the ball in the air.

Legendary Batsmen

Australian Batsmen Victor Trumper was famous for his unique technique throughout the world.It is said that the world will never see another Victor Trumper,however, for all his success in the cricketing field he was a failure at business and spent 38 years of his life in starvation.He was a owner of a factory which made sports items but he was more interested in giving away presents rather than selling his products therefore his business never made a profit.Once he was working at his factory and the match was due to begin in a very short time.Victor put on a coat and took a new bat out of the cupboard which he had made himself a few days back.He scored 185 not out with the bat.This innings of his is regarded as one of the great innings of cricket.After a few days a cricket enthusiast came to his shop and requested him to sell him that bat for a very high price,however,Victor replied that a new bat costs around $45 dollars but since he has used that bat he will sell it for a dollar for what it was now worth.The man was surprised at the honesty of this great Australian Batsmen.



Longest Over

The longest over bowled by a bowler in an ODI(One Day International) was of 17 deliveries and was bowled by a Pakistani Bowler Muhammad Sami against Bangladesh back in 2004.During that over Sami bowled  7 no balls and 4 wides. This over was also later investigated for foul play according to some reports.

Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar is perhaps India's greatest opening batsmen in Test Cricket with 34 centuries to his name,however,for all his achievements he often bored spectators with his slow approach and drove them out of the stadium.His slowest innings came in a world cup match against England.England team batted first and scored 334 runs in their quota of 60 overs.however, due to a confusion about the rules of One day Cricket which was relatively new at that time Gavaskar thought that if they managed to survive 60 overs the match will be called a draw,therefore,he played defensively throughout the match and scored just 36 runs which included a single boundary.He faced 174 deliveries during his innings and remained not out.India scored a total of 132 runs for the loss of three wickets.


First Test Century

First test century from Australia was scored by Charles Banner man  in the first official test match which was played between Australia and England in 1886 at Melbourne Cricket Ground.Charles scored a total of 165 runs which made up 67 % of his team total of 245 runs.
