Amazon Drone Delivery Service

Amazon Air

Imagine a world where you would be able to receive your package within 30 minutes of ordering no matter wherever you are.Imagine a world where you can get anything you desire at any time of the day  at your doorstep faster than you can get pizza delivered.Sounds too fascinating to be true but Amazon Inc led by its visionary Founder Jeff Bezos is working on such a audacious plan.Amazon Prime the latest delivery service introduced by Amazon aims at delivering packages within 30 minutes of ordering.Although the service is still not mature and going by the little details that are available the particular service is still at least a couple of years from take off and faces a string of challenges that need to be overcome before this service becomes viable.

Challenges Being Faced

The biggest challenge being faced by Amazon in implementation of this technology is that the commercial use of drone technology is still not legal in the United States. In March 2015 the Federal Aviation Administration allowed the company to test its current model, the company began testing its prototype in a remote site located in Canada some 2000 feet from the US border. The agency has imposed following restrictions on the drones being used by Amazon in USA.The drones will be allowed to fly no more than 400 feet high and with a maximum speed of 100 mph and must remain within the pilots line of sight. The drones used by the company will be able to carry a maximum pay load of 5 pounds or 25 kg which makes up nearly 86% of the packages delivered by Amazon.

Besides the above mentioned obstacle the company also needs to address the privacy issues in delivering the packages.According to reports the quad copter drones which the company plans to use have a battery life of 30 minutes which will be further shortened by the weight of the packages and will not meet the goal of a 10 mile range. The 10 mile range also means that the people living in large commercial centers will benefit more from this service as compared to the people living in remote areas thus Amazon before the launch its service should work on improving the range of their latest delivery service as it will increase the efficiency of this service tenfold. The other problem the company needs to address are the harsh weather conditions. Although the service will work smoothly in bright sunshine and light rain, what the company needs make sure is that their drones also work in snow, hale our heavy precipitation because if someone wants a medical equipment or some emergency supply he sure wont be relying on Amazon Air if the above mentioned shortcomings are not addressed.

In spite of the all the potential draw backs one can safely assume that whenever this service is launched it will for sure change the way the goods are delivered and will take home delivery to yet another level.
