Home shopping is one of the most famous names in E-Commerce in Pakistan. This website was founded by Shayan Tahir a big fan of Jeff Bezos when he was just 21 years old and his since grown into Pakistan's largest online shopping portal.Following is the story of the man behind this online shopping giant of Pakistan.
Entrepreneurship was not even close to what this business prodigy had in mind when he was a little boy.As a child he always dreamed of becoming a pilot but life had other plans for him.His father lost his job and suddenly there was a financial crisis in the family.Young Shayan decided to help his family in this difficult time and took a job at a call center.As he was good at sales soon he was earning more money than a Chief Operating Officer of a local multinational IT company.After sometime Shayan decided to quit as he got bored with the Job.
The idea for Home shopping came from a Personal Experience.He wanted to buy an iPod but at that time none was available in Pakistan.He then bought a replica from a Chinese website but what struck him was there were many others like him in Pakistan who did not have an early access to their favorite gadgets thus the young prodigy decided to launch his own portal selling online gadgets.The first office of this new business was located at Touheed Center but the business did not get due attention thus Shayan decided to relocate his business to Zamzama which was a perfect place for this new business as it was a commercial area.The first three months were very difficult as the website did not attract any orders,however,after toiling away for three months he sold his first gadget and delivered the item himself.The website has since grown into the largest online shopping portal and receives more than 1000 orders per day.More than 23,800 people visit this portal daily and the website receives more than 114,242 views daily.The annual revenue has crossed the $ 1 million mark a huge achievement considering the modest beginning.
What started out as a small venture has since grown into a million dollar business and currently employees more than 55 people.In the Future this business prodigy plans to sell imported cars through his website and home shopping team are also planning to send catalogs to their customers so that they don't have to access internet for buying a device.
