Fast and the Furious is one of the most famous movie franchises in the world.The first installment of the franchise was released in 2001 and is followed by five more installments till date.Seventh installment is due to be released next year in 2015.Following are few interesting facts related to the franchise.................

  • The Fast and the Furious is an American media Franchise and includes 6 movies and two short stories till date.Having earned a total of $2.3 billion at international box office it has become the biggest franchise in world wide gross for its distribution company Universal Studios.

  • The director of the first movie Rob Cohen decided to make this movie after reading a vibe magazine article on illegal street racing in New York and  watching an actual race at night in Los Angeles. The plot of the first installment is borrowed from the 1991 movie "Point Break".





  • The rights for the title of the movie were also purchased from a 1955 movie named "The Fast and the Furious" so that the title could be used for this project.The 1955 movie was shot in just 10 days and its plot was also used again in "The Chase" starring Charlie Sheen.





  • The Skyline GT-R used by Paul Walker in the second installment is his personal car and he customized the car himself for the movie.The car was severely damaged in the bridge jump scene,however,the car was returned to normal condition in a matter of hours.Paul Walker himself performed the stunt in which he power slides towards the crowd after winning the first race,though,he had a hard time convincing the producers.

  • The residence of the main antagonist of the movie Carter Verone is located in Miami and was owned by Sylvester Stallone at that time and it was just used for both the exterior and interior shots of the house as the mansion was borrowed for only two days.



  • The upcoming seventh installment of the franchise  Furious 7 will cost $250 million dollars to produce making it the most expensive film of the franchise and one of the most expensive movies ever made.Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End is the most expensive movie ever made with a budget of $300 million.

  • The final scene in Fast 6 where  Diesel's car smashes through the nose of the cargo plan was originally visualized for the fourth installment,however,it was deemed too expensive at that time.The scene involved over 200 crew members and 350 visual effects to shoot.

  • The brawl scene between Hobbs and Dom was difficult to choreograph as both characters were written to be equally formidable.The scene requires several weeks of rehearsal and more than a week of filming by the actors and their stunt doubles incurring several minor injuries.

  • Nathalie Emmanuel was not the first choice to play the character of Megan in the seventh installments.The role was initially bagged by the Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone but she later opted out of the project.
