History of  Lahore

Lahore was named after Lava son of Hindu God Rama who supposedly founded the city.The oldest  authenticated document about Lahore was written anonymously in 1982 and is called Hudud-i-Alam.In this document lahore is refer to as small city with impressive temples,markets and Orchards.

Lahore was founded by an  ancient Hindu colony sometimes between the first and seventh centuries probably as early as the second century.At the time of muslim conquests Lahore was under the control of a Chauhan Prince. In 1241 the ancient city of Lahore was conquered by the Mongols the entire population of the city was massacred and the city was leveled to the ground.Lahore reached its zenith under the Mughals.Lahore enjoys a  special position in the Pakistan movement.
